Good Things Happen to Those Who Whine

Do you remember when I wrote this post and the complete devestation Aidin and I felt when we had to close the short lived Ode2DC shop?

Well I got bad news, and I got good news. Which do you want first?

Let's just assume you said good news, because this post won't work with the bad news first.

Good news: Due to some extreme handling of family members and their significant others, Aidin and I will be putting in more efforts to get the shop repened.

Bad news: It won't happen until after the first of the year.

Good news: We won't have to use yucky plastic looking transfers for shirts!

Bad news: The shirts themselves will probably cost a little more than we had originally intended.

Good news....oh no, wait, there isn't anymore news.

So, when we reopen the shop, there will probably only be one or two shirt designs. We are going to start small and work our way up.

This is where our friends come in: In order to get more shirt designs, we need more customers. Spread the word about the shop, tell family, friends, co workers, people you hate, people you just met, people in drive thru windows, everyone!

This shop won't work without you helping us. Thank you for giving us the courage to try this again and not give up.

It All Started With A Dream...

And ended tragically.....

About a month ago, Aidin and I tried to figure out a way to get some extra money to sponsor our trip to Astoria for next year's Fisherman's Festival (this is where the dream part comes in). I mumbled something about loving to have some of my fave Deadliest Catch Quotes on a shirt, and BAM! The idea was born to open a shop with various t shirt ideas.

Which is all well and good.

Until you factor in W-9s, space for the store, paying for the store (which is a HUGE problem), and the crappy transfer sheets that make the shirts look plastic. Not to mention the fact that store bought white shirts are so damn see through its pathetic (and scary).

So good shirts cost about $75 for one size in one color.
A t shirt machine costs around $2000 (which would competlely negate the money we were trying to raise)
And the start up costs were more than I could handle.

So without further hesitiation (because that's what this entire post has been) Aidin and I are annoucing we are closing the shop.

We tried slashing prices, we tried thinking of putting the designs on totes (guys don't buy totes though), and we are just tired of getting our hopes up only to have them crash and burn and then smolder for days on end. Ok, that was dramatic, but true.

To all of our friends who tried to support us through this, thank you, and we understand times are tough, trust me, we know. To the friends who have graciously invited us to stay with them next year, you are the best, but we will have to decline now.

With that....the store is closed.

Thank you...and goodnight.
